Currently, in the Western Australian Resource sector, the availability of skilled Project Control specialist (in particular senior controllers and planners) have become quite scarce.

Employers are finding that the cost to poach such employees is prohibitive, and we are seeing a move to employ less experience staff (but still with relevant skills) and invest in fast track training measures to increase the skill level to senior.

Obviously this can become problematic if the need for that senior position is required immediately, however with a little forsight some of our better clients have adopted this strategy, and temporarily outsourced consulting staff to fill the for the immediate need, whilst that staff member is being trained to a senior level.
